PROJECTS - Populism in Serbia – Causes and Consequences

Project title: Populism in Serbia – Causes and Consequences

Period of realization: June – December 2017

Donor: Open Society Foundation

Project in brief: The aim of the research foreseen by this project is to determine the extent to which populist attitudes are widespread among Serbian population, and since the operationalization of populist attitudes will be based on the instruments used in international comparative projects, such data would allow direct comparison with trends in Europe. Also, the relationship of populist attitudes with the respondent's social context and individual psychological dispositions is subjected to analysis. This will provide an insight into how populist attitudes affect political apathy and self-exclusion from electoral participation and democratic processes in general, and how these attitudes affect party preferences, and how social stratification reflects on supporting populist politics.
